Thai Artist Living In Switzerland and Thailand

Siripoj Chamroenvidhya is a Thai contemporary artist, born in Bangkok in 1957, who has lived in Geneva since 1980 and now works between Switzerland and Thailand.

His practice moves freely between drawing, painting, analogue photography, installation and artists’ books. Across these different forms, he explores the shifting boundary between the visible and the imagined—between the landscape observed in the world and the image that continues to unfold within memory.

Matter and process occupy a central place in his work. Charcoal, paper, light, photographic grain, unexpected traces and the accidents of artistic production become ways of thinking through the image. His works often emerge somewhere between observation and mental landscape, presence and disappearance, blackness and light.

Alongside his personal practice, Chamroenvidhya develops curatorial projects that create dialogues between artists from Thailand and Switzerland. Since 2017, he has collaborated with the Swiss-Armenian poet Vahé Godel on limited-edition artists’ books in which photography and poetry meet while retaining their individual autonomy.

His works are held in the collections of the Fonds municipal d’art contemporain de la Ville de Genève and the National Gallery in Bangkok.
